FileSure for Workstations

Extend the power of FileSure to workstation and laptops

The problem:

Windows Servers can’t determine how files are being used; they can only determine if the user has sufficent rights to access the file.

For example, if you copy a file or just read it with Notepad, it will look the same to the server...a File Open and a File Read. Server based FileSure is subject to the same limitation.

As soon as access is granted, how the file is being used is unknown.

The solution:

By moving FileSure to the workstation, we can:

  • record or stop files from being copied to USB drives
  • record or stop files from being e-mailed via Outlook or Webmail
  • allow access to confidential files but prevent them from being stolen
  • record access to non Windows based servers and NAS appliances
  • and more...

We have put together several videos to show FileSure for Workstations in action.

Recording file copies to USB drives with FileSure Block file copies to USB drives with FileSure Protecting files with FileSure
Auditing a NAS device with FileSure Detecting remote file accesses with FileSure Using FileSure on workstations.
System compromise detection

Recording file copies to USB drives with FileSure

This video show FileSure for Workstation recording files being copied to a USB drive. It also covers how the workstation communicates with the central FileSure server.

Block file copies to USB drives with FileSure

This video show FileSure for Workstation blocking files being copied to a USB drive. It also covers how the workstation communicates with the central FileSure server.

Protect files without stopping work with FileSure

Attempted theft methods: USB, Secure FTP, Webmail, zipping, encrypting and 'Save As'.

This video shows thwarted attempts to steal AutoCAD files on a computer protected by FileSure-Defend. See how users can still have access to files, but are unable to remove/delete/copy them by any means.

Auditing a NAS device with FileSure

While non-windows devices can't be audited or protected by the server version of FileSure; FileSure for Workstations can get the job done. This video shows how.

Detecting remote file accesses with FileSure

This video shows FileSure detecting when confidential files are accessed via the administrative shares and alerting the workstation owner.

Using FileSure on workstations.

This video show how FileSure is deployed to workstations. It also covers uninstalling and explains the relationship between the workstation and the server.

System compromise detection

While this video was specifically recorded for PCI compliance, the requirement has more wide spread application. It deals with detecting when a computer is being compromised or infected and sending an e-mail alert when this occurs. We also cover getting a daily security report from FileSure.
